用作精細(xì)化學(xué)品的中間體。用于生產(chǎn)染料中間體1，4-二氯蒽醌、1-氯蒽醌，抗凝血藥苯基茚滿二酮，殺菌劑四氯苯酞，抗焦慮藥多慮平等。用作有機(jī)合成中間體，用于合成多慮平藥物及染料還原棕BR等
合成方法編輯
1. 煙草：BU，14；FC，9；FC，OR，BU，18。
2.制法：
于裝有攪拌器、回流冷凝器、溫度計(jì)的反應(yīng)瓶中，加入水130mL，濃硫酸160mL。攪拌下加熱至145～150℃。慢慢加入鄰氰基芐基氯（2）153g（1mol）反應(yīng)中有氯化氫逸出。加完后于160℃反應(yīng)2h。稍冷后倒入燒杯中，自然冷卻，析出固體。抽濾，用水充分浸泡以除去無(wú)機(jī)鹽，再抽濾、水洗，干燥，得苯酞（1）120g。用乙醇重結(jié)晶，得純品（1）83g，mp73～75℃，收率71%。 [2]
