熊仁根教授1982年本科畢業(yè)于江西大學(xué)(現(xiàn)南昌大學(xué)),1994年獲得工學(xué)博士學(xué)位,19941998年先后在南京大學(xué)配位化學(xué)研究所、美國波多黎各大學(xué)、Brandies大學(xué)、波士頓學(xué)院開展博士后及訪問學(xué)者研究,1999年至2006年任南京大學(xué)化學(xué)化工學(xué)院教授,現(xiàn)為南昌大學(xué)和東南大學(xué)教授,目前擔(dān)任南昌大學(xué)國際有序物質(zhì)科學(xué)研究院院長。

熊仁根教授長期耕耘并專注在分子鐵電體領(lǐng)域,提出了分子鐵電體的化學(xué)設(shè)計(jì)原理——鐵電化學(xué),從鐵電物理唯象理論的知其然而不知其所以然到鐵電化學(xué)行之有效的設(shè)計(jì)方法,將分子鐵電體的發(fā)現(xiàn)從盲目尋找變?yōu)楹侠淼幕瘜W(xué)設(shè)計(jì)。鐵電化學(xué)融合了化學(xué)設(shè)計(jì)、手性化學(xué)、氟化學(xué)等,有望發(fā)展成為和化學(xué)緊密聯(lián)系的一門嶄新學(xué)科。迄今在Science4篇)、J. Am. Chem. Soc.51篇)、PNAS USA1篇)、Angew. Chem. Int. Ed.20篇)、Phys. Rev. Lett.4篇)、Nat. Commun.6篇)、Adv. Mater.11篇)、Acc. Chem. Res.1篇)、Chem. Rev.1篇)、Chem. Soc. Rev.5篇)等學(xué)術(shù)刊物上發(fā)表分子鐵電體研究論文100余篇。2002年獲得國家杰出青年基金資助,2004年獲聘教育部長江學(xué)者特聘教授,并兩次獲得國家自然科學(xué)二等獎(jiǎng)(1次排名第一,1次排名第二),三次獲得教育部自然科學(xué)一等獎(jiǎng)(2次排名第一,1次排名第二)。
