1. 避免與強(qiáng)氧化劑接觸。無色或近似無色透明液體，有濃烈而甜的蜂蜜香氣。不溶于水，與乙醇、乙醚等有機(jī)溶劑混溶。避免蒸汽吸入。
2. 存在于烤煙煙葉中。
3. 天然存在于蜂蜜、小麥面包、可可中。 [2]
合成方法編輯
1. 由苯乙腈、乙醇和硫酸回流反應(yīng)而得。于裝有攪拌器、回流冷凝器的反應(yīng)瓶中，加入95%的乙醇155mL，冰水浴冷卻下慢慢加入濃硫酸150g，再加入苯乙腈75g（0.64mol），攪拌下加熱回流8h。冷后倒入400g冰水中，分出有機(jī)層，加入乙醚75mL，用飽和碳酸氫鈉溶液洗滌，水洗，無水硫酸鈣干燥。蒸出乙醚。剩余物繼續(xù)蒸餾，收集225～229℃的餾分，得苯乙酸乙酯約90g，收率86%。
2.也可由苯乙酸與乙醇在硫酸作用下酯化制得苯乙酸乙酯，收率90%。另一種生產(chǎn)方法是由苯乙酰胺經(jīng)水解、酯化而得。 [2]

用作農(nóng)藥、醫(yī)藥中間體
【用途一】用于配制各種花香型日用香精。
【用途二】用作溶劑及香料輔助劑，也用于有機(jī)合成。
【用途三】少量用于多種類型的香型中，主要用于中、低檔白玫瑰、檀香玫瑰、鈴蘭、甜豆花、橙花、蜜香、三葉草及一些脂蠟香香型中?？蓮V泛應(yīng)用于煙用及食用香精中，是好的煙用香精的香料。在蜜香、奶油、杏子、櫻桃、桃子等食用香精中用量宜少。
【用途四】GB 2760—96規(guī)定為暫時(shí)允許使用的食用香料。主要用以配制蜂蜜、桃及煙草等型香精。
【用途五】該品為合成香料，具有顯著而甜密的玫瑰花香。較譜遍用于煙、皂、日用化妝品的香精中，少量用于白玫瑰，微量用于橙花、甜豆及蜂蜜果子的香精，適用于哈瓦那型草香精。在醫(yī)藥工業(yè)該品用于生產(chǎn)巴比妥類催眠藥魯米那，也可用作溶劑。 [3]

1. By phenylacetonitrile, ethanol and sulfuric acid reflux reaction. In a blender, the response of the reflux condenser in a bottle, add 155 ml 95% ethanol, ice water bath cooling slowly add sulfuric acid under 150 g, then add phenylacetonitrile 75 g (0.64 mol), stirring under heating reflux 8 h.
